Energy performance certificate in Wallonia

  • For : habitations
  • Noted : whether the building (in whole or in part) meets the requirements of the EPB. EPB stands for the energy performance of buildings.The energy performance certificate is made available to the owner for each construction. In addition, it informs you about the investments which allow you to save energy and pay for themselves quickly. Finally, thanks to this certificate, future prospective tenants and owners can compare and estimate the energy quality of real estate on the market.
  • Granted by: the Department of Energy and Sustainable Building of the Regional Planning, Housing, Heritage and Energy Operational Directorate of the Walloon Region.

Energy performance certificate in the Brussels-Capital Region

  • For : homes and offices
  • Noted : whether the building (in whole or in part) meets the requirements of the EPB. EPB stands for the energy performance of buildings.The energy performance certificate is made available to the owner for each construction. In addition, it informs you about the investments which allow you to save energy and pay for themselves quickly. Finally, thanks to this certificate, future prospective tenants and owners can compare and estimate the energy quality of real estate on the market.
  • Remark : Since November 1, 2011, you must send a copy of the energy performance certificate to the future tenant.

Energy performance certificate in Flanders (EPC)

  • For : dwellings in the event of sale/lease, offices, schools and newly constructed residential buildings.
  • The energy performance certificate (EPC) in the event of construction indicates that the building meets the requirements of the EPB. The EPB stands for "Energie prestatie en binnenklimaat" (energy performance and indoor climate). The energy performance certificate or EPC in the case of construction also makes it possible to compare the energy performance of a building (level E) with the maximum level E.
  • The EPC in the case of the sale/rental of dwellings indicates the extent to which the house saves energy. It is mandatory as soon as a home is put up for sale or for rent. The EPC mentions a numerical index which must also be published in the announcements/ Ads of the sale or rental of the dwelling. In addition, it informs you about the investments that allow you to save energy. Finally, thanks to this certificate, future prospective tenants and owners can compare and estimate the energy quality of real estate on the market.
     
  • Granted by : an expert recognized by 'the Flemish Energy Agency' (the Flemish Energy Agency).
